CRIER Newsletter March 2026

COMING IN APRIL: The Community Fall Prevention & Healthy Aging Program aims to lower fall risk, promote independence, and boost quality of life for older adults and those with limited mobility. The program provides classes, safety education, home assessments, social opportunities, and free transportation to help participants stay active and safe.

The Very Good Theater Club achieved sold-out performances in February with their production of “The Vault.” The show showcased the talents of current students and recent graduates from the East Troy School District. We are looking forward to their next production!

Special Events

The East Troy Action Alliance will host two meet-and-greet QA sessions for the upcoming Supervisor election in the Town of East Troy. March 9th and 16th at 7:00 PM.

The Tri-Troy Beacon is hosting a School Board Candidate Forum. March 24th at 6:00 PM, meet the candidates and Q&A session. Hear the candidates answer your questions before the April 7th election. Submit your questions to: tri.troybeacon@gmail.com

Open to the Public

Free transportation is available for individuals with mobility or transportation challenges to attend center events.

DROP-IN DAYS: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visit the Arcade Room, get creative in the Art Studio, and watch movies on our 100-inch 4K HD screen with Dolby audio, or come in for some quiet time.

BINGO AND SNACKS: March 9th and 23rd from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Join us on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, snacks provided.

FREE CHILI LUNCH AND BINGO: Friday, March 27th, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Community Center. Hosted by East Troy Manor. Bingo starts at 10:00 AM; lunch at 11:30. Reserve with Crystal by March 20th. 262-684-1566 x112

VIRTUAL REALITY TRAVEL: Experience any place, worldwide, with guidance from a volunteer coach. Call to schedule a personal one-hour session.

MEMORY CAFE: Tuesday, March 17th, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. A 90-minute social gathering is held on the third Tuesday of each month for individuals with early-stage dementia and their family members, friends, or caregivers. Sponsored by Citizens Bank and facilitated by Jake Sawyer, a Dementia Specialist in Walworth County.

DEATH CAFE: March 17th, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This one-hour social gathering takes place on the third Tuesday of each month. It’s an informal event where anyone is welcome to share thoughts and feelings about death. Connect with others, take time to reflect on life, legacy, and what truly matters. The café aims to reduce fear and stigma related to death and dying. Sponsored by Citizens Bank and facilitated by Jake Sawyer, a Dementia Specialist in Walworth County.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT: Wednesday, March 25th, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Caring for others can be overwhelming and isolating. Support groups are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month to connect with others and navigate the healthcare system. Sponsored by Citizens Bank and facilitated by Jake Sawyer, a Dementia Specialist in Walworth County.

THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY, MOVEMENT FOR RELIGIOUS RENEWAL in Southeast Wisconsin. Rev. Paul Newton will speak on topics related to the Christian year. Friday, March 6th at 7:00 PM – What Is the Essence of Christianity?

VOTE FOR EAST TROY: March 11th at 6:00 PM. Meets monthly to discuss how to strengthen the local community through nonpartisan efforts.

CRAFTS WITH TAMMY: March 18th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. This month’s craft is an Easter Bunny wreath. RSVP to Tammy at 262-903-8441 by March 11th.

QUILTING CLUB: March 3rd and March 17th
Meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 9:00 AM to Noon. The group creates lap quilts to donate to those in need. For questions, contact Gayle at 262-215-7803.

SENIOR EXERCISE CLASSES:
·      Tai Chi – Mondays at 8:00 AM
·      Strengthening Seniors – Wednesdays at 8:00 AM

SHEEPSHEAD: Tuesdays at 1:30 PM. Actively seeking additional players.

POOL GROUP: Join a group of senior men at two pool tables on Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
