CRIER Newsletter October 2025

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to a generous gift from Francine Pease, in honor of Martha Bresler and Theresa Barrett, we will be able to install air conditioning at the center. The high temperatures this summer resulted in the cancellation of numerous programs and activities; with this improvement, we can ensure a comfortable environment as we broaden our summer offerings in 2026.

Francine has been a steadfast supporter of our community for many years, contributing in countless ways to enhance the lives of those around her. On behalf of the IGET volunteer team and all who visit the community center, we extend our sincere gratitude for her thoughtful contribution. This enhancement will benefit many members of our community for years to come.

Upcoming

‘LIVING WITH DEATH – A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION’Saturday, October 25th, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Join us for the very first event of this kind in our area – ‘Living with Death: A Community Conversation’. Don’t let the title of the event scare you or make you uneasy. This is a free, open-house, drop-in event that anyone can attend and learn about different aspects of death besides traditional funeral and estate planning. There are speakers scheduled throughout the event, plus resource tables where you can meet and chat with people representing a variety of businesses and services. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Janet McCord, PhD, FT, is a professor of Thanatology and will talk about the study of death, dying, grief, and loss.

The Virtual Reality Travel Club for adults will commence in January 2026. This monthly program will feature curated tours, complemented by snacks inspired by each month’s destination. For participants new to virtual reality technology, training and individual assistance will be available throughout the sessions. The club utilizes Oculus 3 headsets, generously donated for this purpose. Further details will be provided soon.

Beginning October 1st, an after-school drop-in program for individuals aged 12 and older will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Attendees under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are welcome to use the game room and art room, as well as a designated quiet area for homework or reading.

Reminders

Our transportation initiative continues to play a vital role within our community. We are actively identifying individuals facing mobility challenges to offer complimentary transportation services to select events at the center. For more information, please contact us at 262-642-2266 or iget.comm@gmail.com.

As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to consider our center as the ideal venue for your alcohol-free events. Our main room accommodates up to 80 guests and is equipped with tables and chairs, offering flexible reservation times without restrictions. The arcade is accessible with all bookings, and private movie screenings in our theatre room can be arranged for an additional donation. Contributions for space usage help cover our operating costs. We welcome you to support us by reserving your event space today.
